This book is an anthology of sonnets that were composed over an eleven year period and serves as a sort of primer for my forthcoming book, Gethsemane. The poetry contained in this book are both romantic and philosophical and provide heartfelt passages that stir the imagination.
R. Douglas Jacobs, is a modest, yet pragmatic individual who fancies the art of verse as a hobby rather than a profession. This would explain why he's only written two books to date. He doesn't write for monetary reasons, but rather writes to edify his mind of the human psyche. Even though he deems himself to be a versatile writer, he has a particular talent for poetry and finds the structure of rhyme to be schematically challenging in unlocking the subtlety of the English language. Moreover, Mr. Jacobs refrains from interjecting politics from his work since his aim is to share without alienating or endoctrinating those of a strong ferment or persuasion. Still, he's a man with strong convictions who advocates tolerance over prejudice. A native of Long Beach, California, Ms. Jacobs has had the resiliency to endure a life full of scorn and personal hardship. He remains undeterred in his resolve, however, and is determined to live his life for the sake of leaving behind a unique legacy embodied in his work.
